An AWS Cloud Practitioner practice exam should do more than tell you whether A, B, C, or D is correct. It should show whether you can identify the requirement in a short scenario, separate similar AWS concepts, and explain why the distractors do not fit.

The three interactive questions below are original study questions written from the current CLF-C02 exam guide. They are not copied, recalled, or reconstructed AWS Certification exam items. AWS prohibits disclosure of certification exam content, so legitimate preparation should use independently written questions aligned with the published exam objectives—not brain dumps.

CLF-C02 exam format at a glance

AWS currently lists the Certified Cloud Practitioner exam as a 90-minute exam with 65 multiple-choice or multiple-response questions. The exam guide explains that 50 questions affect your score and 15 are unscored; the unscored questions are not identified during the exam. Results use a scaled score from 100 to 1,000, and the minimum passing score is 700.

Exam detailCurrent CLF-C02 format
Total questions65
Exam time90 minutes
Question typesMultiple choice and multiple response
Scored questions50
Unscored questions15
Minimum passing score700 on a 100–1,000 scale
Exam price$100 USD, before applicable taxes

The four scored content domains are not weighted equally.

DomainWeight
Domain 1: Cloud Concepts24%
Domain 2: Security and Compliance30%
Domain 3: Cloud Technology and Services34%
Domain 4: Billing, Pricing, and Support12%

That distribution matters when you choose a practice exam. A large question bank is not useful if it overemphasizes service-name trivia while barely covering security, cloud economics, or billing.

Domain 1 · Cloud Concepts

Question 1: Changing the cost model

A startup wants to avoid buying servers before it knows how much capacity its new application will need. It wants to pay only for the computing resources it consumes. Which AWS Cloud benefit best addresses this goal?

Domain 2 · Security and Compliance

Question 2: Shared responsibility for Amazon S3

A company stores confidential documents in an Amazon S3 bucket. Under the AWS shared responsibility model, which task is the company's responsibility?

Domain 4 · Billing, Pricing, and Support

Question 3: A forecasted cost alert

A finance team wants an email alert when the forecasted AWS cost for the current month is expected to exceed $2,000. Which AWS service or feature should the team use?

What these practice questions are testing

Question 1: identify the exact cloud benefit being asked for

Several cloud benefits can be true in the same scenario. A startup that does not know future demand may benefit from agility, elasticity, and avoiding capacity guesses. But when a question highlights avoiding an upfront purchase and paying for consumption, the cost-model change is the most precise answer.

This is a common CLF-C02 pattern: every option may describe a real cloud benefit, but only one directly satisfies the wording of the requirement.

Question 2: separate “security of the cloud” from “security in the cloud”

AWS secures the facilities, hardware, networking, and foundational infrastructure that run its services. Customers remain responsible for their data, identities, permissions, and the configuration choices available in the services they use.

The boundary changes with the service. Managing an operating system on Amazon EC2 creates more customer responsibility than using a highly managed service. Instead of memorizing one static responsibility chart, ask two questions:

  1. What part of the stack does AWS operate for this service?
  2. What data, access, and configuration decisions are still controlled by the customer?

Question 3: distinguish analysis tools from alerting tools

AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, AWS Pricing Calculator, and the AWS Cost and Usage Report all relate to cost, but they solve different jobs.

ToolPrimary job
AWS Cost ExplorerVisualize and analyze historical cost and usage trends
AWS BudgetsTrack a budget and notify on actual or forecasted thresholds
AWS Pricing CalculatorEstimate the cost of a planned workload
AWS Cost and Usage ReportExport detailed cost and usage data for analysis

When the scenario says send an alert at a forecasted threshold, AWS Budgets is the direct match.

How to review a CLF-C02 practice exam

Your score is only the starting point. Use this review loop after every practice session.

1. Write the deciding phrase in plain English

Examples include “pay only for usage,” “customer configures access,” or “alert on forecasted spend.” This prevents you from choosing an answer merely because its service name feels familiar.

2. Review all options—even after a correct answer

If you chose AWS Budgets correctly but cannot explain when to use Cost Explorer, the same distractor may beat you in a later question. A useful explanation should tell you both:

  • what the incorrect option actually does; and
  • which requirement in this question it fails to satisfy.

3. Label the cause of each miss

Use one of three labels:

  • Knowledge gap: You did not know the concept or service.
  • Comparison gap: You knew both services but could not separate their roles.
  • Reading gap: You overlooked a condition such as “forecasted,” “most cost-effective,” or “least operational effort.”

The label determines your next action. A knowledge gap sends you back to a lesson or documentation. A comparison gap needs a short side-by-side note. A reading gap needs more timed question practice.

4. Retest with unseen questions

Repeating the same set can raise your score because you remember the answer position. Keep enough unseen questions for a later checkpoint. Use a full 65-question practice exam when you want to evaluate pacing and coverage across all four domains.

How to choose an AWS Cloud Practitioner practice exam

Before spending time or money on a question bank, check these five points.

It clearly targets CLF-C02

Older CLF-C01 material can miss current objectives and domain emphasis. The provider should state which exam guide the content follows and when it was last reviewed.

It explains every answer choice

A one-line answer key encourages memorization. Look for explanations that compare plausible distractors and connect the correct answer to words in the scenario.

It covers all four domains

The practice library should include cloud concepts, security and compliance, cloud services, and billing/pricing/support—not only popular AWS service definitions.

It preserves unseen questions

You need fresh questions to tell whether your understanding transfers. A larger pool lets you separate daily learning questions from final readiness checks.

It includes full-length timed exams

Short quizzes are useful for learning, but they do not test concentration and pacing over 65 questions. Use both formats for different purposes.

If an explanation still leaves you wondering “Why not Cost Explorer?” or “Would the answer change for Amazon EC2?”, you can ask the AI Tutor without copying the question into a separate chat. It sees the question you are reviewing and can continue the discussion from there.

Frequently asked questions

Are real AWS Cloud Practitioner exam questions publicly available?

No official archive of live certification exam questions is published. AWS Certification rules prohibit disclosing or distributing exam content. Use the official exam guide, official practice resources, and independently written questions that map to the published objectives.

Is this the same as the real CLF-C02 exam?

No. The interactive set on this page contains three original single-answer study questions. The real exam has 65 multiple-choice and multiple-response questions and covers all four domains. The mini set demonstrates how to review choices; it does not simulate the full exam.

How many practice questions should I answer?

There is no universal number. Continue until you can explain why each option fits or fails, then verify that understanding with unseen questions. Coverage and review quality matter more than repeating a fixed number of questions.

What practice-exam score means I am ready?

AWS reports the real exam on a 100–1,000 scaled score, with 700 as the passing standard. A third-party practice percentage does not convert directly to that scaled score. Look for consistent results across several unseen, full-length sets and review weak domains instead of treating one percentage as an official cutoff.

Can I pass CLF-C02 using free questions only?

Free questions are useful for checking the style and quality of explanations. A complete plan still needs coverage of all four domains and at least one realistic 65-question pacing check. Use the free set to evaluate the learning method before choosing a larger question bank.

Start with the question, then study the gap

The best AWS Cloud Practitioner practice exam is not the one with the most convincing answer key. It is the one that helps you locate the decisive requirement, compare plausible options, and carry that reasoning into a question you have never seen.

Take the same approach with every miss: identify the gap, review the smallest concept that fixes it, and test again with a new scenario. Cloud Pass lets you repeat that loop across 700 CLF-C02 questions, domain review, and full mock exams.
