The network team has mandated that migration traffic must not exceed 150 Mbps of the available bandwidth. You must perform an online migration directly to Cloud Storage and adhere to the bandwidth cap. What should you do?

gcloud storage cp can copy data, but it does not inherently enforce a strict 150 Mbps bandwidth cap. Relying on “default network behavior” is not acceptable when a hard limit is mandated. It also lacks the managed migration features (central monitoring, retries, scheduling, incremental sync patterns) that Storage Transfer Service provides for large SMB-based migrations.
Storage Transfer Service with on-prem agents is designed for online migrations from SMB/NFS file systems to Cloud Storage. Using an agent pool allows you to isolate the migration agents and apply a bandwidth limit (150 Mbps) at the pool level, meeting the network constraint. STS also provides managed retries, monitoring, and the ability to run repeat transfers to capture ongoing changes.
Transfer Appliance is an offline migration approach: you copy data to a physical device and ship it to Google for ingestion. While it avoids consuming WAN bandwidth, it does not satisfy the requirement to perform an online migration directly to Cloud Storage while keeping the file server available for ongoing work and syncing changes over time.
The --no-clobber flag only prevents overwriting existing objects in the destination bucket; it does not control bandwidth usage. Like option A, gcloud storage cp is not a managed migration solution and does not provide a robust, enforceable 150 Mbps throttle for the transfer, making it unsuitable given the explicit network team requirement.
